Three-stage water filter housing system

Is a common and effective method for improving the quality of water in residential, commercial, or even industrial applications. These systems use three separate filter cartridges housed in individual canisters (or housings), arranged in sequence to remove different types of contaminants from the water.

What It Is

1. Stage 1 – Sediment Filter

  • Removes: Dirt, sand, rust, and other visible particles.

  • Type: 5 or 10 micron polypropylene.

2. Stage 2 – Carbon Filter (CTO)

  • Removes: Chlorine, bad taste, odors, and some chemicals.

  • Type: Carbon block or GAC (Granular Activated Carbon).

3. Stage 3 – Specialty Filter

  • Removes (depends on type):

    • Heavy metals (e.g. lead, mercury)

    • Bacteria

    • More chemicals

  • Type: KDF, additional carbon, or other specialized media.

Where It's Installed

  • Point-of-Entry (POE): For filtering all water entering the house.

  • Point-of-Use (POU): For filtering water at one faucet (e.g., kitchen).

Maintenance

  • Sediment Filter: Replace every 3–6 months

  • Carbon Filter: Replace every 6–12 months

  • Stage 3 Filter: Replace depending on filter type (check label)
